How is this a comedy?

4. “The Kids Are All Right” (2010)
Amazing writing and excellent acting. It deserves any and all accolades it receives. It’s a film that depends on skill and better performances than consistent lighting or quick cuts. It’s like a really, really good play that couldn’t be performed on stage. It’s nominated for Best Comedy for the Golden Globes. I have no idea why. I can’t think of one joke in this film.
Annette Benning is the perfect unsatisfied house wife. Julianne Moore is more than watchable in everything she’s ever done, even “The Ladies Man”. Mark Ruffalo is so good he’s likeable and loathesome at the same time. The girl from the new “Alice in Wonderland” is fantastic and the teenage son is an actual teenager.
This film shouldn’t be such a revelation, it should be the blueprint for every film. Great writing, competent performances and a compelling story. It’s so basic.
